TLC and the Community

Tender Loving Care (TLC) works for a world where children, young people and adults are able to find the services they need to access their goals and achievements.

According to the Australian Network on Disability:

“A disability is any condition that restricts a person’s mental, sensory or mobility functions. It may be caused by accident, trauma, genetics or disease. A disability may be temporary or permanent, total or partial, lifelong or acquired, visible or invisible.”

In Australia, one in five people have a disability.

Why are disability services important?

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the life expectancy of Australians born with Down Syndrome has more than tripled in the four decades to 2002, increasing from an average life expectancy of 18 to 60 years. This is due to changes in attitudes towards Down Syndrome and the increase in accessibility of disability services.

Although disability rights have come a long way, negative behaviour, physical barriers and other challenges still prevent people with disabilities from accessing every part of the community and reaching their potential. TLC is dedicated to advancing disability rights in the community and paving the way for all individuals to achieve their personal goals. Regardless of gender, age or status, everyone has a right to independence and mobility.

TLC and the Community

The demand in Sydney for high quality disability care is growing. When we introduced these services, we understood the value they posed for individuals – that the services we offer improve integration, education, skills and opportunity.

TLC is a registered provider with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and is committed to providing people with disability reasonable, individualised support services to facilitate access and achieve their life goals.

“When I went deeply into their services, I realised that they could make my dreams come true. They are honest, fast, passionate. Their first priority is the patient,” says one TLC client.

We take a personalised approach with our clients, beginning with effective communication. We focus on what our clients want to develop, learn, improve or pursue. Our response focuses on the client’s desires and needs.

Furthermore, we provide support to help you develop social skills, strengthen problem solving skills, increase self-awareness and build independence relative to the disability. Our aim is to look out for the clients personal and social wellbeing in the pursuit of their life goals.
